The last time we promoted this trip was almost three years ago.  At that time, I mentioned that trip would probably be the last time we would promote Ohio Amish Country.  However, we continue to get many requests for this wonderful destination, so we are hoping you will join us!  It is truly one of the most relaxing and enjoyable vacations you will ever take.  The largest concentration of Amish exists in central Ohio - not Pennsylvania or Indiana.  Among the many things that draw us to this area are the friendly people, delicious food, and a calm feeling of serenity and peace.  You will learn about the different sects of Amish and why they choose to continue to live without most modern conveniences.  Witness how family members get involved with household and farm chores.

From an early age, children are taught to work while learning the value of God and family - in that order. You will experience an appreciation for how the Amish communities support each other.  The Amish believe in a close-knit brotherhood with love and mutual concern for all members.  They help each other as the need arises and believe the church is responsible to care for its own poor, aged, and needy.

According to their beliefs, they do not approve of government subsidies, welfare, food stamps, unemployment compensation or even nursing homes for their infirmed.  The Amish have traditionally chosen to suffer loss or injury rather than to protect themselves with physical force.  Their basic doctrine of salvation includes the belief that man is sinful, needing to repent and be baptized, accepting by faith the atonement of Christ's sacrifice.  They teach that redemption goes hand in hand with discipleship and self-denial.  It is important to understand that every belief they practice is based on their interpretation of the scriptures.

During our stay we will have a wide variety of activities, and you will participate in one of the biggest Amish Auctions of the summer!  Hopefully, when your vacation is over you will have a new appreciation for these humble and special people.  Just wait until you see the wonderful surprises waiting for you!!
