Stonehenge is the best known and most studied megalithic
structure in the world, yet its original purpose remains
unclear. Then, off to Bath, known and named for its
Roman-built baths. The city became a UNESCO World
Heritage Site in 1987 and recently added to the trans-
national World Heritage Site known as one of the “Great
Spa Towns of Europe.” You’ll see the elaborate spas at
the Roman Baths Museum that are fed by the only naturally
occurring hot springs in the U.K. From Bath to the capital
of Wales, Cardiff – the main commercial center of Wales as
well as the base for the Welsh Parliament. You will visit
the Cardiff Castle, the National Museum and Gallery,
Millennium Stadium & Cardiff Bay.

Stratford Upon Avon is situated on the River Avon, less than 100 miles from London, with a rich ancient history, dating back to the Roman Period. It is believed the Romans occupied Stratford from the 1st to the 5th century AD. Stratford was hope to Shakespeare. It is where he was born, lived and was buried. Did you know that William's father was a Glover - a glove maker? Another notable citizen of Stratford is Anne Hathaway, Shakespeare's wife-to-be. A visit is included to Anne's cottage where the young Shakespeare would have her visited during the early part
part of their relationship. Next stop, York; founded in 71 AD. It is rich in Roman Saxon and Viking history. While strolling through this medieval city, you will discover a quaint, narrow street that appears today almost as it did during the Middle Ages. York Minster is one of the finest medieval cathedrals in Europe.

Edinburgh, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has been the capital of Scotland since at least the 15th century. Like the other cities mentioned, it has a very rich history. It is the seat of the Scottish Government, the Scottish Parliament, the highest court in Scotland, and the Palace of Holyroodhouse - the official residence of the British monarch in Scotland.
