Imagine standing beside brilliant turquoise lakes, gazing at towering snow-covered peaks, and watching waterfalls tumble through pristine valleys while elk, bighorn sheep, and bears roam freely.  This is the Canadian Rockies – one of the most breathtaking landscapes on Earth.  This unforgettable journey includes four remarkable national parks – Banff, Kootenay, Waterton Lakes, and Glacier National Park – each showcasing breathtaking scenery, fascinating history, and unforgettable experiences.

The mountain ranges of the Canadian Rockies stretch approximately 900 miles through the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia.  They are known for dense evergreen forests, shimmering glaciers, more than 100 peaks exceeding 10,000 feet, crystal-clear lakes, and charming mountain towns.   

While in Calgary, you will visit Calgary Tower and Heritage Park, Canada’s largest living history museum, encompassing more than 127 acres.  Historic buildings, authentic steam trains, vintage automobiles, and costumed interpreters bring the history of Western Canada to life.  Rather than simply viewing exhibits, you will step into another era and experience everyday life from the 1860s through the 1950s.

One of the tour’s most fascinating stops is Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump.  For more than 6,000 years, Indigenous peoples developed an ingenious hunting strategy long before horses or firearms were introduced to North America.  Skilled runners guided massive bison herds toward the cliff’s edge, where hunters waited below to complete the harvest. Every part of the animal was used – for food, clothing, shelter, tools, utensils, and ceremonial purposes – reflecting both remarkable ingenuity and deep respect for the bison.
